.NZ Adds Macrons To Domains – Interview with the Domain Name Commissioner .NZ [Audio]

10am this morning marks another milestone in the history of both ccTLD’s and International Domain Names (IDNs).

Coinciding with Māori Language Week, the public can now register .nz domain names containing  ā, ē, ī, ō and ū.

New IDN ccTLDs Added To Internet DNS

A few hours ago I was informed that the first three non-Latin top-level domains were added to the DNS root zone.

When you visit these sites, you may see a list of letters and numbers in your address bar (depending on the browser).

The three new are السعودية (Al-Saudiah), امارات (Emarat) and صر. (Misr).

Dynadot Takes .EU IDN Pre-Orders

The central registry for EU domains will be launching support for IDN on December 10, 2009 at 10:00 UTC.

EU IDNs will support Latin, Greek, and Cyrillic character sets. Dynadot is charging the following prices for EU IDN registrations: $11.99 regular, $10.99 bulk, and $10.75 super bulk.
